On the corner of East Montague and Virginia Avenue sits Marquis Station, a multi-use suite of buildings acquired by Cityvolve to continue to support and revitalize the Park Circle Business District. The site was previously owned by a mechanical contractor and consisted of 5 existing structures ranging from a two story masonry building to a quonset hut. The vision for the site was an adaptive re-use of the existing buildings into a multi-use complex of office, retail, and service spaces that would support the employees within the site and the surrounding Park Circle community. Current tenants include Orange Spot Coffee, Park Circle Athletic Club, and Iola Modern Furniture. Inside Park Circle Athletic Club, a mezzanine was added to provide more space and new garage doors and windows provide for a more open and light filled work out area. Orange Spot Coffee is located in a previous one-story office building. This space was gutted inside and out, and now has a fresh new exterior stucco skin and new entrances and awnings. The one-story metal building along East Montague street was renovated and added onto; New storefront and polycarbonate openings allow the building to glow from the inside at night, lighting the street. The two-story building received a new storefront entrance and a porch was constructed along the side to provide access to the second floor tenant and covered walkway to access the quonset hut at the rear of the property. Finally, a new entrance “tower” was added to the quonset hut, giving additional access and light to the interesting space now occupied by Iola Modern Furniture.
